Throughout history, many writing materials and tools have been used. These things included stone tablets, clay tablets, bamboo mats, papyrus, paper, ink brushes, pencils, pens, typewriters, etc.

Word processors have become common since the invention of the computer keyboard. Even day by day, ordinary papers have been replaced by online pages. Now it is no longer limited to a specific ledger book, book, or computer. Even the same page can be viewed and edited worldwide with the blessing of the internet.

As a consequence, there have been many changes in the writing world. Earlier, editing had to be done manually. This is still needed, but your typing and grammatical errors can be detected and corrected easily with various software and online tools. This speeds up editing and saves writers and editors a lot of time.

These same tools are now playing the role of a teacher through their functionality. As a result, this software plays an effective role in improving your writing skills.

6 awesome tools to improve your writing.

1. Microsoft Word

Microsoft Word is the universe’s most commonly used word processing software. An online version of this software is also available. This software allows you to easily write, format, or design your writing needs. Microsoft Word is used for easily creating, editing, and sharing documents. There are various templates available in this software that make your task easy and convenient.

2. Google Docs

In addition to MS Word online, Google Docs is the most popular online word processing solution. As an alternative to MS Word online, Google Docs offers many of the features of a word processor and does not require the user to download or purchase the software. Google Docs is an excellent option if you need to access MS Word features without installing additional software. It’s part of Google Apps for your Gmail account and can also be used offline. Google Docs offers a powerful online editing tool that enables you to make changes to the content and design tools of documents for collaborative working.

3. Scrivener

Literature & Latte developed Scrivener to create long-form content and book manuscripts. The program does have a learning curve, but it is well worth it. It’s a word-processing application matching Microsoft Word and Evernote’s organizational capabilities. A 30-day free trial allows you to use all of its capabilities, but you must purchase a license for each platform.

Scrivener allows you to define aims and goals for your project and track your progress. The “Distraction Free Mode” lets the user concentrate on only one subject at a time. You can save your project as a paperback, hardback, or eBook without creating separate documents. Some users find this distracting, while others find it useful when revising.

4. Grammarly

Grammarly is the best grammar checker for writing and proofreading online documents. Grammarly’s claim to fame is its grammar-checking tool, which checks for spelling and grammar errors and suggests ways to improve sentence structure. It has a free grammar, punctuation, and spelling checker. This program has a “premium” version that does the same thing as the free version, but it also checks for plagiarism, offers feedback on word choice and style (such as passive voice), and suggests synonyms. In addition to Microsoft Word, Grammarly is easily integrated with Chrome and Firefox browsers.

5. ProWritingAid

Besides grammar checks and plagiarism detectors, it has writing tutors and all-purpose editors, so it’s a comprehensive online proofreading and editing tool. You can use ProWritingAid with Chrome, Google Docs, and Scrivener. In addition to correcting spelling and punctuation, ProWritingAid also generates reports. Its versatility also makes it a good choice for businesses. There is a free version of ProWritingAid to get you interested in the paid version.

6. Hemingway Editor

The Hemingway App is a tool for self-editing that allows you to make your writings more concise and tighter. This app highlights weak words ( adverbs) that it believes can be strengthened. Yellow highlights indicate complex sentences or common writing mistakes. Red highlights show difficulty reading your text.

As with a spellchecker, the Hemingway Editor highlights difficult sentences in yellow and red. A high-grade level can be confusing and tiresome for any reader. The Automated Readability Index determines the “grade level” of your content. It is possible to prepare your writing for even the harshest critic with a few changes. The online version of the program is always free to use. There is a one-time fee for the desktop version.
